Brown is a Los Angeles–based actress, writer, and filmmaker known for portraying sharp, emotionally complex women with a strong comedic edge. A trained actor with a BFA from the University of Michigan, Alli began her career in New York City, where she became a house performer at the UCB Theatre, writing and performing on sketch and character teams and working extensively in stand-up comedy.
As an actress, Alli Brown currently stars in Sistas on BET and has appeared in Succession, City on a Hill, Search Party and Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens.
Brown’s short films have screened at festivals across the U.S. and internationally. Her short film NUKE premiered at the Lower East Side Film Festival, received a Special Jury Mention for Best Acting & Writing at the Oak Cliff Film Festival, and went on to its international premiere at Nót Film Festival in Italy. Really Well premiered at LA Shots Film Festival, and later screened at LA Under the Stars and Chelsea Film Festival. Her debut short Dave & Alice Want to Have Sex screened at HollyShorts Comedy and the Bowery Film Festival, while also winning Best Romantic Comedy at Top Shorts Film Festival.
As a writer, Brown is drawn to stories about women on the edge, dysfunctional families, and characters confronting their demons head-on, often blending dark comedy with emotional realism. She is currently developing new projects for film and television.
